This book reminds me of Cinderella. When I first opened the book I expected not to be thrilled because I saw the movie. Overall, it was a good book. Ella's loving mother dies and she is left with her unloving, greedy father. As a baby she was given the gift of obedience from a silly fairy. Ella's mother and God-mother ( the cook) are the only people who know about the gift which is eventually known as a curse. Ella goes away to boarding school with her not so nice soon to be step sisters. She really wants to get rid of the curse.
