Dark. Dark. Dark. and gruesome. Did I mention dark? The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is fascinating. The characters are fully fleshed out, with each getting their own time, without being overwhelming. This is definitely a read for OLDER teens and adults. There are lots of murders and a couple of other gruesome details, but I think this only reminds us how much the character Sam has been mentally and phsycially torn down by his parents to make him susceptible to outside forces. Yowzah. That's right. I said it. Yowzah.
