Get ready for a long and detailed read! In re-reading this I had forgotten how much actually happens in this book. Luckily I like the story and characters so it never seemed like too much for me, though I would still have gladly traded some of the epic scale for a little more emotional depth, particularly in the Darsanga section. Also, now that I'm older as I read this (same age as Phedre in this tale) I appreciate some of the dynamics between her, Jocelin, Melisande and Hyacinthe better - and the importance Imriel takes on outside of being a convenient plot device to twist the characters ever closer. If this one lacks the urgency of the first two, it definitely provides a satisfying close to the trilogy for those willing to take the journey.
