An interesting book, but somehow unsatisfying. I guess I enjoyed "Geek Love" so much, I was expecting a story of carnival life to be, well, more interesting. This felt a little rushed.

On further reflection, I think my problem was something that I'm sure a lot of authors would like to have: I wanted the story to go further. The book is basically TWO stories, the narrator in modern day and his unhappiness with living in a nursing home, and his reflections about his past in the circus. Both stories lead up to a point, the beginning of the adventure of the narrator's life and then...they stop. It almost seems like the book was just preparation for the REAL stories, and then we don't get them. It's probably not the worst thing to have your reader yelling, "Yeah, and THEN what happened?!" but it left me feeling unsatisfied with the book as a whole.
