John Steinbeck’s novel, Of Mice and Men, tells the story of two men, George and Lennie; set in the Salinas River, a few miles south of Soledad, during the Great Depression in 1930. In those times it was not unusual that two men traveled together trying to look for a job, because most people were very poor, but it was very unusual that two men traveled together like George and Lennie did. It is a dramatic story of friendship with a very simple writing style and developed by the author from his own experiences throughout his life.

George Milton is a small, smart and quick man with a dark face and sharp features; Lennie small, on the other side, has an ironic name for a man of his size, for he is a big man with great strength, but is also mentally retarded and his body features are round and undefined.
