I was tempted to give this book 4 stars because I liked the ending so very much. However, most of the book was just 3 stars for me, so I went with that instead. I was introduced to this book through my book club, and was told that the rest of the series is much better, so I checked them all out from the library at once. I'm so glad I did b/c I couldn't wait to jump into the next story when this one finished.

This book feels like a beginning. The whole story happens while the main character is on a journey to steal something for the king of Sounis. Along the journey we learn the importance of the object he's stealing, and the challenges he will face. The actual action of the plot is quite short lived though. I think that's why this book is really only a 3 star book. If you go into it knowing that the journey is the story, then I think it's much more tolerable than it would have been if I'd been waiting the whole time for the actual action to start.
