it was ok
bookshelves: regency, romance
Read in June, 2011

As a debut novel, great things are not generally expected. Sadly the author chose to challenge one of the best loved pieces of English Literature. This looks to be a case of biting off more than can be chewed. The story starts flat and lingers ther for more than half way. The charachters lack the verbal arena so loved by Austin. Once the story returns to England it does pick up and provide credible twists which make it look like it's to go somewhere. Unfortunately the end was so soggy with sick romance it was like travelling back on that Ship again while sailing through a tough gale. I do wish I could say better, however I'm still looking to get my life back.
