Read from October 04 to 06, 2011

After seeing the film adaptation I was excited to see how the book stood up as I personally find films that are “based on a book” turn out to be much better, how I was wrong!

The story kicks of with Driver being held up in a Motel room standing over dead bodies and sustaining injuries to himself which pulls you in and immediately makes you want to read more. Now I am usually a fan of this style of writing, tempting the reader with what is going to happen later in the story and then enjoying the the journey to this point but each chapter is told out of sequence and it became frustrating at times, usually taking half a page before I understood where in the timeline it was being told from.

I found myself having to re-read previous chapters to refresh what happened before and there is even a complete retelling of the motel scene someway through the book which I found very unusual.

If you are like me and prefer a more linear storytelling approach this book will disappoint.
