Read from October 03 to 14, 2011

I picked up this book from the library not knowing anything about it. About a third of the way through, I was thinking, gosh, this story is familiar - and realized it is a retelling with a sci-fi twist of part of 1 Nephi in the Book of Mormon. I liked it and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see how Card handles the rest of the history, and to what extent he takes it.

I am re-reading 1 Nephi now, with a new perspective. It is more interesting to me than before because I am visualizing the interactions between people, seeing them more as real people with motives and feelings instead of the same story I've read at least 10 times, and heard retold thousands of times, being a member of the LDS(Mormon) church myself.

Shad In the end, the bad guys overrun the good guys and kill them all of except for the last guy who is narrating the story. (Sorry to break it to you that way Leslie) :)

Leslie Aw, man! Why'd you have to ruin it for me? ;)
