I was 12 years old when a friend recomended I read this novel and it's still one of my favourites. I've probably read it 4 times over the last 30 years. I can still hear the sound of Talon's boots tapping on the boardwalk. L'amour may tend to be formalistic in his writings but he knows the land and the people he writes about.
