bookshelves: adult
Read from October 03 to 07, 2011

The second half wasn't as bad, but the first half felt like a continuing repeat of the initial book.

Still hating the inner goddess thing. It's like Ana's talking to another version of herself in her head.

Getting tired of all the smirks. Does Christian make any other facial expression?

These books are a bit warped, but I have less of an issue reading about warped than I do reading about repetitive behaviors and inner goddesses.

The steam level was decent, but nothing way out there. The emails were still the only cute part of the book. I think the relationship was wayyyy too rushed, but whatever.

Shera (Book Whispers) This is a much better cover then the first book.

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity I think the covers tie into the themes of the book. The first cover featured a tie that was a very prominent part of the storyline, and this one had a mask from a ball. I agree though that a tie = boring cover!

Queen Hello! I also hate the inner goddess thing. And Christian became too "perfect" if that's even possible for such a dark character.
Well, I had to drop it, but I kind of want to know what happens with them later (more likely with Christian haha) without having to read her ramblings. Care to share the spoilers?

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity Is it sad that I don't remember much from the last couple of books?

Here's a mashup of what I remember from books 2 and 3 : (view spoiler)[Christian's ex-sub ended up going a bit crazy and Christian took care of her for a while. Ana got jealous, of course. Christian's ex-dom (Mrs. Robinson) sabotaged Christian's relationship with Ana, but she got found out. Ana and Christian got married and had offspring. The last book was incredibly boring for the most part, so you're not missing much. The only parts I even enjoyed were the alternate PoV's in Christian's voice but those were included extras and not part of the actual book. The scenes were Christian's first Christmas with his adoptive family as a little boy and the first time he met Ana at his office, as well as his meeting with her at the hardware store, which was amusing because you got to see his dirty mind at work. (hide spoiler)]

And that's about it. Not much else to tell, haha.

Queen Not sad, I have a bad memory for non amazing stuff too XD.

And it sounds just like I thought about it. Although I would want to read that other POV. Christian is the only reason why I read this, Ana is just meh.

(view spoiler)[So Mrs Robinson was in love with him in the end? I read until the part where he told her why he liked brunettes. (hide spoiler)]

Thanks a lot :)

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity I gathered as much. And no problem!

Cathy they do a lot of shy smiling too! ha-- gag

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity Haha. I agree on the gag. Repetitive behaviors kill me!

Emilee So in this book it's "smirks"? I hated all the "eyebrow raising" in the first one. Ugh. I'm only 14% through this one, and continuing to wonder why I'm doing this to myself...

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity Yes, unfortunately. Does that type of stuff drive you crazy also?

Emilee Oh my gosh, yes! It's horrible! I just did a search on my kindle for "smirk" in this book, 91 times... Seriously?!

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity Wow, 91 times?!? That's ridiculous. I get that every character needs defining characteristics but they still need to be used sparingly.

I would tell you to stay strong and hold on but I've had many friends who have quit out on the series. I didn't hate the books the way so many have but the more time goes by, the less I like them. There are so many other BDSM and erotica books than this one.

Andrea Markham I agree about the inner goddess. I got tired of how often she thinks about Christian's smell...

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity Smells in books have been out of control lately. Especially anything musky or spicy. Yuck.
