I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. It is probably one of the most spiritually uplifting mainstream books I've ever read. I laughed, I cried, I ached and rejoiced with Adam's mom as she awaited his arrival and then raised him in a society that expected her to institutionalize him. I was SO sad to later learn about Martha Beck's history as a troubled woman who got divorced, turned gay and then left her faith, even after experiencing all the wonderful spiritual awakenings chronicled in this book. It's too bad such a great writer is so confused about her own moral convictions. Still a fabulous book I'd recommend to mothers (and everyone else) everywhere.
