A College girl goes to Key West on Spring Break with friends. She wakes up early one morning after a night of heavy drinking and finds her boyfriend and best friend together. She takes off and, while driving the boy's car excessively fast, hits a man. The cop who comes upon them minutes later gives her a pass (and she doesn't wonder about it at all...isn't fiction terrific?) and eventually she marries him. Fast forward two decades later and she is now an Attorney in New York with a new name and a sixteen year old daughter. She gets involved in a legal case where she is attempting to exonerate a man on Florida's death row who has been convicted of serial murders that she knows he did not commit. Because fiction brings everything back full circle, you can guess what happens. Telling anything more about the plot will be a spoiler, but it is fast moving and like all Patterson's novels, fast reading. It is a great way to spend a day at the beach or enjoying the fresh air!
