really liked it
bookshelves: borrowed

his is a small novellette of the introduction to Straub's newest character in A Dark Matter. I read it in a few hours and then I had bad dreams. Not surprising. It's disturbing and so matter-of-fact in its disturbance that it becomes even more disturbing. Reading this is like seeing a car wreck you can't turn your eyes from. I imagine this is how Jeffery Dahmer started out, if he had a mentor. Let's just hope they never make a movie out of this. The images stuck with me way too long for comfort. Straub is horror, remember, and horror he does well.
