This book will be on the shelves in Jan. 2012. I'm reading an advanced reading copy from the publisher and I think, as a confirmed introvert, that I'm really going to like it.
I've finished the book and I must say that it gave me some really good insight into our "extrovert ideal" culture and the pressures that are brought to bear upon those who don't fit that mold. Especially fascinating is research done on infants that shows introversion/extroversion characteristics at very early ages. This book encourages introverts to accept their temperaments, to appreciate the positive aspects of being "quiet", and gently advises us how to feel more comfortable in a world that does not always value introspection. Good advice for parents as well on raising introverted children.

I am dying to read this book! How do you manage to get the publisher to give you an advanced copy?

Amanda, I'm a librarian and I frequently attend webinars in which publishers promote their soon-to-be released titles. You might go to some of the major publisher's websites to see if they have webinars or to the Booklist or Library Journal websites, as they often conduct these webinars. The book should be out any time--I'm almost done reading it and I love it!
