The final book of the first (Corwin) Amber cycles, bringing to a close the mystery of Oberon's machinations and the attempts on Corwin's life, among others things. I thing my favorite moment in the entire five-book cycle is in this volume, where Corwin and the raven Hugi argue about the nature of existence and whether striving is worth it. Terrific.
