I really enjoyed this one, provided by netgalley. I was on a business trip, horrendously jetlagged and awake at all sorts of unsociable hours, and I really wanted something to lose myself in. Well, this one (and another I read for which you can see the review here), totally sucked me in, and was a great addition to a really wonderful series.

I don't know about you, but it takes a really strong theme to make a series last to three books for me. This series has such a strong premise that it's lasted to number 4, with numbers 5 and 6 in the works, and I don't know if I can wait for them! The settings are the same, more-or-less, but the characters are a wonderful mixture that keep the interest going and make every book somewhat different.
The hero and heroine in each faces their own peculiar problems, not all of which are resolved (as in this one), so I don't get that horribly saccharine-induced headache you get when all the ends are tied up neatly, story after story.

I have wanted to read Winter's story from the very beginning. It was obviously going to be a corker - the tortured, dedicated man, leading a double life as the Ghost of St. Giles (which really is the cleverest invention by the author). What woman would make him want to give up his nightly patrols? Well, at first glance, I didn't much like the heroine, Isabel. She struck me as the usual, boring, beautiful, aristocratic heroine who seems to overpopulate historical romances, but this author has a wonderful way of making you look twice, get sucked in without even knowing it, and then becoming rather attached to her heroines, who make fine partners for the incredibly strong heroes she writes.

Released June 26.

I guess for me this wasn't as strong a story as Scandalous Desires, but don't get me wrong, it's a great read. 4 stars, I really liked it, and I can't wait for Godric and Megs' story and also Max's.
