Soumi(in love with Puck) Roy M going little slow :( :(

Wendy Darling Oh, I'm sorry to hear you're finding it slow, Soumi. I was sucked in from the very first page--I can't keep my hands off it, hah.

jo mo real curious about GRAVE MERCY (especially since you seem to like it so far, wendy!). just got it approved and started it ...

Wendy Darling Oh, gotcha! That's good, I am really loving this.

Yay, Joe! I'm glad you got it, I think you can tell if you'll like this by the the first chapter. It's definitely for the mature end of the YA scale, but so far it's everything I wanted but didn't really get from the Poison Study books. And Incarceron.

Juhina ash just got this from net galley! i can't wait to read it! so glad you're liking it

Wendy Darling Awesome, Juhina! I hope you enjoy it, too. This is like a massive readalong, hah.

Jen (Dream Reads) Dying to read this book. It looks so badass. How are you liking it, Wendy? :)

Wendy Darling SO awesome, Jen. I'm so excited about this book and I can't wait to get back to it tonight!

Jen (Dream Reads) Yay! So happy to hear that :)

BiblioJen You had me at "Assassin nuns!" :-) LOL This one is definitely going on the "to read" list!

Wendy Darling I cannot wait for you to read this, Jen. I'm so engrossed in what's going on, and it's the first assassin-type YA book that really feels badass. Love love love, and I hope the lovefest continues. :)

And "assassin nuns" is all that I needed to hear too, BiblioJen! If that was the entire book pitch, that would have worked for me--but it's a pleasant surprise to find that it's also well-written, the characters are slowly revealing themselves and the pacing and historical feel are excellent. I hope you get a chance to read it soon!

message 13: by Christina (new)

Christina THIS sounds interesting!! I'm looking forward to your review!

Princess Allie Does this book remind you of any other book that you have read? So far...

Wendy Darling It's great so far, Christina. :)

This book is like a better version of Poison Study to me, Princess Allie. I think fans of that book and Incarceron (or people who might've wanted more from those books) will like this. Is that what you were thinking?

Princess Allie Yes, thank you very much. =)

Wendy Darling I CAN READ YOUR MIND. :D I'm glad that was helpful!

Sana Oh wow, I have it in my immediate TBR and I am glad you enjoyed the book! =D

message 19: by MISS VAIN (new) - added it

MISS VAIN Glad you loved it Wendy. I hope to start this next week, I went to start it twice now and the excessive page numbers made me nervous. Another blogger buddy of mine loved this too. Next week I'm going to read it.:))

Wendy Darling Read it soon so you can bounce around with me, Sana! I feel kind of giddy with excitement.

Oh Miss Vain, I think you'll love this! Don't be scared of the page count; I am awful about reading long books and often have trouble to historical fiction, but I sped through this one like nobody's business in two nights. It may be over 500 pages, but I didn't want it to end.

Chelsea Yay! I have been so excited about this one but had my reservations. I shall pre-order it!

Wendy Darling Good! If you enjoy historical novels and like the premise, it's worth owning for sure, Chelsea. I'm getting myself a hard copy of this as well. :)

Thank you for the motivation Wendy, I'll admit that my first Cassandra Clare book had me apprehensive to read as well and I can devour those pretty easily as well. Okay I'll check in with you after I finish!;)

message 25: by Cat (new)

Cat Hellisen I've been eyeing this one, read an excerpt that mad me go eeeh I need this! And you are giving it a good review. MUST READ.

Wendy Darling Yay, I can't wait to see what you think of it, Miss V! There is a fair amount of court politicking in the middle, which isn't always my favorite thing--but it's well done here and actually interesting, because you care about the characters. Worth sticking out for sure...I teared up a few times towards the end.

The writing is really, really good, Cat. And yes...MUST READ. :D

Eunice Oh my! 5 stars? That must be really great. I need to see this soon! Looking forward to your review, Wendy! :))

Wendy Darling I had a feeling this was going to be 5 stars for me right from the very beginning, Eunice--I'm so glad it stayed that way. :) I think some readers might find some of it a little dry, but I personally loved it.

HellyBelly So excited to read this, just downloaded the galley!

Wendy Darling Hooray! Hope you like it, Helly.

✿ℎazℯℓ✿ Absolutely cannot wait for April!! ^_^

Eunice I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this, Wendy. The synopsis sounds really promising. Did you request this in Netgalley? Is it still up there? I'd like to try to request this. :))

HellyBelly Was just going to take a peak and am now on page 66 (when I should be working). Must stop reading...
Eunice - GoodReads sent out an offer of a pre-approved galley that is about to expire, hurry!!

there was no need for requesting (pre-approved access!), every netgalley member (i think) got an email on the 27th feb (subject title says: Feed Your Reader: EXCLUSIVE 2-day access to GRAVE MERCY‏) from
"Monday, February 27 (9:00 A.M. EST) through
Wednesday, February 29 (9:00 A.M. EST)"

Liz "everything you'd expect a historical novel about assassin nuns to be"
OMG, Wendy..this made me LOL this morning!! But a 5 star rating definitely made me take notice. :)

message 40: by Cyp (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cyp Can someone share the link on Netgalley? It ends today, right? I'd really love to read it:D, but I can't find it on the search bar.

message 45: by Fry (new) - rated it 2 stars

Fry My reading is going much slower than I want. It's hard to sit at the computer for that long. It's really compelling, though!

message 46: by Sesana (new) - added it

Sesana I would expect an historical novel about assassin nuns to be awesome, and so it goes on the TBR.

message 47: by Brandon (new) - added it

Brandon the description sounds delicious with flavor your five star review...def added to my TBR. looking forward to reading your review!

message 48: by Lyndi (new) - added it

Lyndi *double take* Assassin nuns?! I'm so there.

Wendy Darling Sesana wrote: "I would expect an historical novel about assassin nuns to be awesome, and so it goes on the TBR."

Exactly so, Sesana (and Liz!). For once, we get our expectations met. :)

AH--I think you'd love this. I hope you get a chance to read it soon.

I hope everyone who was invited was able to download the galley in time. For those who aren't able to read it early, never fear--it is worth the wait.

Hope you enjoy, Eunice, Rosa, Rachel! After giving it 5 stars, there's always a lot of pressure, hah.

Brandon, from what I know of your taste, I think you'd enjoy this since I think it would appeal to readers who like fantasy. It is very light on the magical elements, but something about it reads rather like a traditional fantasy in many ways.

Juhina I actually preordered this one but also got the galley! so excited to read it, especially since now you rated it a 5!!! :D
