bookshelves: gay, dystopia

Three and a half stars. Enjoyable, but not quite as engaging as Out of the Woods. Resolves the cliffhanger, but some questions that the first book raised are never answered. I would have liked to know more about the Mothers and the whole system that's developed out of the remnants of civilization. What's the difference between the boys taken from the woods, and the cadets? One very real problem is that you *cannot* read this one first. Without the background of Out of the Woods, there's just too much that isn't going to make any sense.
