Despite my review of Wizard and Glass, I'd say that this has been my favorite book of the series so far. Namely, I liked that this book had a compelling plot similar to Wizard and Glass (heroes have to save the day...) but ALSO advanced the quest toward the Dark Tower. I really liked the character of Father Callahan and I'm so excited to see what purpose he serves in the 6th book. Even though I immensely liked Jake before this book, my respect for him as a character deepened (sometimes I think that King unrealistically portrayed his behavior though, given his age). As with most of the Dark Tower books, the majority of the book was the 'planning' and the 'palaver' and then it's only about the last 5% that has any action or resolution. Sometimes this can be unsatisfying, but I thought there were enough developments during the course of the book to keep it interesting.
