Meh...stereotypical high fantasy sort of thing, which is not bad in of itself. What makes it bad is that the writing is flat and relies heavily on telling you that things are so, rather than convincing you of it. For example, it will go on and on saying that the doode was fearsome!! So scary! Monstrous beast man!!! But like...he's just a big muscle-y guy with a leopard mask on, like a wrestler or something. Likewise, the forest is scary because it is scary! Etc....after awhile, I couldn't really believe in the author's words....which pulled me completely out of the story.

Won't be reading anymore, which is too bad because I assume that if this series really did go on for a gajillion volumes, the author's style might have changed drastically.
