Go. Read this book. Even better, listen to the audio version. Seriously, go. Don't bother with my review.

This was a whimsical book that tells the story of a traveling circus that shows up without (much) warning and is only open at night. It's a story about love. It's got magic of all types. It's got happiness and humor and sadness. The story is told in pieces through the eyes of the various people involved with The Night Circus. Just as with the circus itself, it spans many years and many locations. There is some intrigue with the true purpose of the circus, and this adds to the whimsy.

The audiobook is fantastic. It is narrated by Jim Dale, who is the guy who narrated the US versions of the Harry Potter books. He does a great job with it--so great that I found myself "taking the scenic route" home from various errands around town, or finding excuses to listen around the house (many things got straightened up while listening).

Go read it.

Jenny (Reading Envy) I have won you over! Although I'm not sure you should trust my book views since I pushed you into reading more of the Dark Tower....

terpkristin In the spirit of full disclosure, it WAS your review that pushed me over the edge to read this one. But so far (and admittedly, I'm only an hour in), I'm liking it. I'm looking forward (...) to my drive home tonight (I'm about an hour away from my house right now) to listen to more.
