Finally I was able to get the seventh book from the library. It was great. We learned all throughout this series that living in inhumane conditions does not mean you have to lose your humanity. Luke is hidden his entire life, then forced to confront the worst in both society and humanity, and he is able to do so without compromising his values or becoming like his persecutors. This final volume had a lot of red herrings - we are lead to believe all will be well several times before everything really works out. The ending seems a bit abrupt, and I would have liked to have the main characters futures clarified a bit more; it was really left to chance. I'd love it if she wrote a follow-up book that showed what happened "after" and where all the main characters ended up. Just the same, it was a reasonably satisfying ending to an excellent series.
