This is Alex Fuller's lightest and most readable book. Really, it's a retelling of the events that she explored in "Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight" but it delves deeply into the indelible character and colourful family history of Nicola Fuller (the author's mother). Nicola was somewhat vilified in DLGTTDT, but here she is portrayed in a much more playful, sympathetic light. Fuller's literary voice is so unique and special, I love everything she writes, and this is no exception.
