Fourteen year old Tory Breenen lives on an island just of the coast of South Caroline with a father she has never know. She lost her mother in a tragic accident that forced her to make the change. She is very bright girl and attends a very prestigious school with some of the other kids that have parents that also work for the University and live on the island. She became friends with 3 other boys who also live on the island. He father, Kit, works for the University at their research facility on an island near by. This gives the kids opportunity to visit the islands beautiful beaches. One day Tory and her 3 friends discover a dog-tag that one of the islands resident monkeys was carrying around and threw at them. They decided they would investigate who it had belong to and return it to a family member. Little did they know that this would lead to an unsolved murder and get them involved in an adventure that will threaten their lives. Their lives are changed in ways they never could have imagined. This was a very intense read that will captivate students ages 12 and up. It does have a little romance and a couple of minor swear words. I can hardly wait for book 2.
