I’ve often thought that Lora Leigh is basically Diana Palmer with anal, and this book certainly seemed to be starting out in that direction -- most of the story happened before the book started or behind the scenes, the hero is 8 years older than the heroine, he’s taken care of her since she was a child, he inexplicably makes a pass at her, then treats her rotten. I probably would have enjoyed it a lot if it had continued in that vein but after the awesome suffering of the beginning, there just wasn’t very much plot. It seemed more like filler between the first and third books in the series than a real story. I did like the characters, and it was pretty hot, but I guess I'll have to keep going to Coyote's Mate for my Palmer-with-anal fix.

This made me laugh out loud, and then I had to try to explain why to my husband, who was left totally bewildered.

"Bewildered" pretty much sums up my husband when it comes to me and Diana Palmer... "Why do you keep reading her?" is his eternal question.
