I wanted to like this book, because the premise was good and the verse was good, but something about it read as insincere, because over each forgettable character's voice was an adult's voice that said Hey-kids-like-this-aren't-so-bad-you-should-take-another-look, which is a good thing to say, but a bad thing, craft-wise, to have so obviously poking out and ruining the flow of the narrative.
