it was amazing

A friend gave this book to me while back and I skeptically kept it on my shelf thinking I would try it out "someday". Being laid up for a while gave me a chance to pick it up and I was very pleased! I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The writing wasn't overwhelmingly fantastic, but I still found it well-written. What I enjoyed most, (besides the love story of course), was the history woven in that was so mych a part of the story but didn't take away from the real reason I kept reading...the love story between Katherine, a commoner, and the Duke of Lancaster. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys period peices written about true events (with author embellishments, of course)... Although, I will say, I'm surprised at some of the content. It didn't bother me at all, but it must have created a stir in the early 1950s when the book was written :).
