House of Stairs is about 5 orphans that are trapped in a house of stairs with no way out. I rated this novel a 3 because I liked the book half and half. At the beginning of the book, it really caught my attention right away. But the whole middle of the book, I didnt enjoy because it dragged on a lot. Nothing was really happening in the middle of the book, the same thing kept happening. Once I got to the end of the book and the climax, then it caught my attention again. The strengths of this book are that the author really makes it intresting, he put things in this book that I would never think of. The weakness of this book is that the whole middle of the book drags on and on. I would probably think about reading another one of William Sleator's books, and see what else he has to offer.
