This is another of my favorite Campion books. It takes place during WWII and our hero has just returned from unspecified work in the war zone (read "spying") and just wants to get to his home in the country. He stops by his London flat and finds a dead female body in his bedroom and a group of his friends huddled in the sitting room. Then things begin to get complicated as his titled friend and RAF ace, Lord Carados, appears to have been involved with the dead woman whose body has been moved from his bedroom to Campion's. Mix the usual colorful characters that inhabit Campion's world with a ring of Nazi art thieves and you get a fun and sometimes confusing romp. A good entry in the long running series of Campion mysteries.
