Shan, Darren. Cirque Du Freak: Vampire Mountain. Toronto: Scholastic Canada, 2001. Print.

CIRQUE DU FREAK: VAMPIRE MOUNTAIN was about a boy, named Darren Shan, and his "boss/friend", named Mr. Crepsley, and they're vampires. It was their mission to get to Vampire Mountain, without using their powers and on foot, it is a very risky journey. Tagged along with them was a little person, named Harkat, and he had a very important message for the Prince.

The strengths of this book was it had many interesting moments that made you want to keep reading. For example, when the bear attacked Darren and had him pinned down. There weren't many weaknesses but it had some big words that I didn't know what they ment.

Plot was mainly on a trail to Vampire Mountain and when they were in the mountain. Setting was at night since vampire sleep in the day. The tone was serious and sarcastic at times. For example, when he was about to fight Arra Sails, a really good female fighter, Darren said "I've always wanted to fight a female fighter."

A review stated, "compelling.... A plot full of twists which leaves the reader hungry for more."
