Although I found the story enjoyable, I was not a fan of how it was written. Had it been third person, following the three main characters, or first with one of them, I would have probably given it a five.
As for the three, I found two things very distinct: I loathed Raoul and had absolutely no sympathy for him, and I didn't like nor hate Erik as there wasn't much for me to base my feelings of him on.
Considering Christine is at the centre of the entire story, I found it odd that there actually wasn't anything from her "memory". I would have thought that a story that spawned so many sequels and fanfiction tales, that we would have had more insight to how she felt.
All in all, however, I did enjoy the story in it's original, non-musical form.
