A story based on that real-life incident where a man kept a young woman (his daughter?) and their kids locked in the basement for many years. A young girl and her 5-year old son are locked up similarly and it's written from the boy's perspective.

After the first 40 pages or so, I started wondering if I would be able to tolerate the boy's childish language and bad grammar for the rest of the book. Surprisingly, once I passed the 50% mark, it grew on me. I kept wondering if I take too much for granted reading about their experiences in the basement. Enjoyable, and a quick light read.
