This is a book with no plot. Honestly, it has absolutely no plot. It merely follows the life of a man from before his birth parents met until middle-age. However, it’s a page-turner anyway. The depth of character and setting is astounding and I was completely hooked. Each of the characters truly came to life for me, except for Marion’s birth parents. They were characterized through the mythology of the past. Thus, they were larger than life in many ways. There is no way I can adequately describe Cutting for Stone, but it is a book that will stay with me for many years.
