Not one of the best of this series. It takes even longer than usual for anything to happen, about 200 pages. The situation that puts Honor in a position to be captured seems contrived, as does the whole escape scenario.

I think Weber has introduced a Lady Barbara for his Horatio: Honor has fallen in love with the Earl of White Haven. I've been careful to avoid spoilers on this series, but if I had to guess, things don't look good for White Haven's wife.

629344 I gave up on the series a couple of books after this one (or maybe just one book after this one). It had started out so well but the things you noticed: nothing happening for 200 pages, contrived plot devices, etc. just get worse in the books to come. If you find redeeming values in them, please let us know!

321673 I'm going to read at least one more, since this one left Honor & Co. stranded on the prison planet. But the Honor worship is beginning to get a little ridiculous. The number of people who have literally thrown themselves in front of a bullet for her is adding up.

I hope they don't become unreadable for me. I have enjoyed them for the most part.
