The Keeper of Lost Causes, Jussi Adler-Olsen’s recent contribution to Scandinavian crime fiction, takes a predictable turn, but the ride is unusual and exciting. I’m an easy mark for novels centered around cold cases and this one is good. I’m not up on all of the references to Danish political parties so I found that a bit confusing, but not enough to detract from the story line. The characters held my interest the most. Carl MØrk had that tough intelligence and “oh-by-way” manner reminiscent of Colombo and I couldn’t help but cheer him on. Assad was the crowning touch in an excellent cast of characters.
