I would highly recommend this book to any child between 10 and 12. It is fun, light-hearted, and yet surprisingly complex because the author weaves together three very different stories that all come together in the end. This complexity gets the reader thinking as they try to figure out how everything ties in, and this book is also emotionally stimulating because of Stanley’s situation and, most of all, the sad fate of Sam and Miss Katherine. Although the language is not overly complex and the writing is simplistic, I would still recommend this book because it is fun, entertaining, and most of all, memorable. It is one of those books that makes children want to read because of its driving plot and strong characterization, and so it will help children want to keep reading because this book makes reading pleasurable.
