** spoiler alert ** Wow. If the world were filled with people like the ones in this book it would be a terrible place.
The main character is Sherry, a substitute teacher in LA. The book starts with her and her boyfriend having a sexual encounter. Unfortunately they don't have any condoms so he runs to the store to get some and never returns. Great way to start a story.

The most amazing thing about this book is the characters fears of contacting the authorities. Missing boyfriend? ok I could see looking for him yourself for awhile. Sexually assaulted by a teenager who was pretending to help you look for him? Nah don't need to call the cops for that. Same teenager has decapitated your boyfriend, stabbed two bystanders, raped and dumped your (assumed dead) body on a hillside. No no, contacting the cops would be a terrible idea. Then you find out he is at the house of your parents and little sister who he previously threatened. I don't think the cops can help with this either.

Sadly she was one of the more levelheaded characters in the book which also contains these great characters -

Toby Bones - the chief bad guy here. A teenager who we find out has already killed his parents. He becomes obsessed with Sherry after she substitute teaches in one of his classes. He proceeds to rape, murder and eat (mostly fingerprints, perhaps one penis (wtf?)) his way all over the place.

two teenage boys who find a naked dead lady who turns out to not be dead and ponder doing naughty things to her dead body, think about holding her captive, and trick her into thinking the person who left her there to die had bee captured..and these are heroes.

sherrys little sisters pudgy best friend who gets raped by another teenage boy but gets so pissed at sherrys little sister when she kills the rapist that she decides to help the bad guy. Apparently she realized being raped by the guy was the best thing that could every happen to her since she was so fugly.
