Right-o! I wanted to finish the second one before I reviewed this one.

There is potential in Lynch, but he needs to feel the need to make his heroes such nice guys. The tale is entertaining, the villain the right kind of bastard (even if he is pretty stupid), our heroes ALMOST amoral enough and the wizards are...no, let's not dwell on them. They are just irritating, and the book would have been better without them as wandering Deus ex Diavola.

I think Lynch needs to decide whether he is writing heroic rogue-fantasy or fantasy noir. As it is, the book hovers somewhere between, tottering toward heroic rogue-fantasy.
