The book definitely fascinated me. I wonder if this Harris Burdick guy died a sudden death or intended for his pictures to remain a mystery. Maybe he was a man with a sense of humor and that was his plan from the get go. Regardless, many pages made me want to create stories of my own based on the drawings and the short captions. I also wondered whether the captions were taken from the beginning of his stories or the middle of them. Nonetheless, it was cool how Van Allsburg had the idea of compiling all of the pictures into a book without adding anything to them. He could have created his own stories for them, or done something more with them, but he allowed for the readers to use their own imaginations and creativity to do what they want with Burdick's original works.
