Brilliant in its ability to set up a whole world spanning thousands of years, intricate yet always coherent and consistent. And at the same time, a great train-of-thought exploration for a very unusual character type. Also an important point on this book in particular... if you saw the movie, do not let that dissuade you from reading the book. The movie was like a comic book gone bad, with acting and dialog to match.
