Genre: Picture Book - Contemporary

Summary: This is a wonderful picture book that tells the story of a young boy named Peter. Peter wakes up to find snow covering everything as far as he can see outside! Peter has a great time playing and exploring new things to do in the snow.

Critique:
(a)This book finds its strength in the character development of Peter.
(b)This book is extremely appropriate in providing the reader with a strong character development of Peter. Without him there would be no one to tell the story.
(c)The best example of development of Peter is when he wants to play in the snowball fight with the older boys but he knows he should not do so. Even though he is very curious it is good to see that Peter knows his limits.

Curriculum connection: This book would be great to use to discuss the weather outside and the first snowfall of the school year.
