ok, this book starts out really slow. fortunately for it, I brought it with me to the tire store and had nothing else to do for the hour and a half that it took to allign my tires. I'm not sure the alternating views is necessary for the story. mabey for the bear and the troll queen, and her father in the beginning, but her brother doesn't really add any information we couldn't learn elsewhere, or know on our own. like that rose's family misses her. but once more started happening and the point-of-view stuck more closely to Rose, the book picked up and enjoyed it. If I had had any other books to switch to I probably would have given up on this book. There was just a little too much set up before getting to the good parts. The other part I didn't like was the very end. It was just so abrupt. I felt there could have been at least a little more description.
