Lydia Davis is a master short story writer. Most of the pieces in this book are a few pages long, or shorter; several "stories" are only one sentence long, and beautiful. Read a story like "Example of the Continuing Past Tense in a Hotel Room," or "Burning Family Members," and you'll be hooked. I laughed out loud many times while reading the brilliant "We Miss You: A Study of Get-Well Letters from a Class of Fourth Graders." Highly recommended.
