While the topic is an interesting one and the descriptions quite vivid (image pigeons roosting in broken shells of high rises in NYC)the author focuses on how each area profiled would return to its native state PRIOR to man's in habitation (which one can't be certain would actually happen. Although it's interesting to image a place like NYC was once a dense forest...) the writing gets bogged down with a lot of details. I think one of the biggest flaws is that there is no sense of anything we (the reader) can do NOW to help prevent or re-mediate the damage that has been done to earth.
