What an unbelievably powerful, nerve wracking and thrilling suspense novel!

Tess married the man of her dreams. He was good, kind and loving, and that meant so much to her after the abuse of her father. But within weeks of their marriage, things began to change, subtly, but scarily! She could never do anything right, and if the dinner wasn't on the table at exactly the minute he wanted, she was beaten. If the bathroom wasn't cleaned to his specifications, she was beaten. She was an 18 year old new wife, and terrified of her husband.

Jim Beckett was a decorated police officer. He had many years of excellent service behind him, was well respected by his peers, and now Tess was pregnant with their first child. After Samantha was born, he seemed to be more loving for awhile. He loved Sam, there was no doubt about that...but then it started again...

Two years after their marriage, Tess helped put him behind bars for murdering ten women. He vowed she would pay... Then the psychopathic killer escaped from prison, killing two guards as he made his escape, and the chase began.

Tess ran, and after a lifetime of fear, she needed help..she wasn't strong enough, or tough enough to make a difference. But she had to save Sam from her father, she had to make a difference. She enlisted the help of ex-marine J.T. Dillon, who had many demons of his own, and FBI profiler Pierce Quincy who had been on the case since it's inception.

As the story chases from one state to the other, and the thrills send chills down your spine, you'll be holding your breath in fear, wondering what is going to happen next. The horror of what Jim Beckett has done, and will do to reach his goal, which is kill Tess, will have you unable to put this book down until the very last page!

Lisa Gardner has the ability to write the most intense, terrifying tales of psychopathic horror around! Highly recommended!
