Dark, atmospheric mystery set in northern Ontario. Detective Cardinal has troubles at home and at work when he's begins the hunt for a serial killer. Not helping matters is his new partner, Lise Delorme, who he rightly suspect of having been assigned to investigate him more than the case. I liked the strong sense of place here--you can almost feel the cold--and unsettled partnership of Cardinal and Delorme. I was less engaged by (view spoiler)
