So let's get this out of the way: this book, from the series that is the basis for the TV show Bones - it's not a very good book. I'm not a very big fan of the mystery genre, but I thought that since I secretly enjoy an evening of Bones and House, I'd probably secretly enjoy reading this.

Eh. The show is better. Temperance Brennan is more interesting as a socially stunted loner surrounded by other weirdos on a procedural comedy/drama that contains some surprisingly moving scenes; this book was just kind of formulaic. I actually enjoyed the parts that contained real forensic anthropology, though - maybe that's what I really want to read about? It's a pretty interesting discipline.
