really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, canada
Read from October 04 to 09, 2011 — I own a copy

I discovered Lynn Coady by happenstance. A couple of years ago, I bought a copy of her short story collection, Play the Monster Blind, thinking it would make a good BookCrossing release for the Canada Day challenge. I've released close to 500 books by Canadian authors on or about Canada Day over the last few years with the intention of getting Canadians to read Canadian books. I have to admit though that I have not always read the books I've released. I'd heard about Lynn Coady enough to know she was Canadian, but apparently not enough to convince me to read her books. I have no idea why I chose to read PTMB; I have hundreds of Canadian books on my shelves (hell scattered and stacked throughout my house, all clamouring to be read) but I did and I was blown away by it. Needless to say, Coady's books are no longer going to be relegated to the pining TBR bench.
