Grrr, this book ticked me off so much! The man who won't marry his mistress is one of my favorite tropes, because it's such a juicy source of pain, and this one started off particularly well, with a conventional HP scenario that included a very unconventional twist. But then Reid had to go and (quite ridiculously) undo the whole thing, putting us right back into same-old/same-old land. (view spoiler)[Heroine is -- apparently -- a former nude model who had a long-term affair with the artist. Unlike most HP heroines, she is very comfortable with nudity and her own sexuality. But surprise! It was really her mother who was the model and the artist was more like her stepfather (hence the ick factor) and she was really a virgin the whole time! Sigh. (hide spoiler)] Another twist that provided a satisfying, balanced ending redeemed it somewhat and I enjoyed the angsty goodness overall, so it wasn’t a complete disaster, just a disappointment.
